Keep in Touch with Relatives with Cheap International Calls to Mobiles

There are 2 basic VOIP service provider options: free services or paid providers which are likely to have a range of pricing options, fixed line VoIP or mobile VoIP. All making cheap international calls much easier. Making that choice depends on how you plan to use VOIP. If all you’re looking to do is to converse with friends and family over the World Wide Web, a service which costs nothing may be all you need. If you’re looking for another option to normal phone service, however, consider a VOIP service with a paid package deal.

When it comes to VoIP there is a multitude of choices. To determine which option is the greatest fit for your money, you must come to a decision on which services you will require, and whether you want to get rid of your existing telephone service completely. Most Mobile VoIP service providers offer package plans with free calls to a designated geographical area. Nearly all providers offer completely gratis call waiting, call display, and conference call services.

People often find that the most basic package does not differ much amongst VoIP service providers there is a great rivalry between VOIP companies, with every one aiming to offer services that distinguish them from their competitors. To make the right decision, you’ll have to check several packages to find the best for your needs. For example, if you make a lot of overseas calls, a package that includes international calls will be most suitable. Or if people are always calling you from the same city, get a package that provides you with a local number wherever you are so people can ring you at a much lower rate.

Service and reliability are other fundamental things to think about when selecting a VOIP company to go with. You can find all this info from reviews on the internet on the myriad of comparison websites which exist. One hand tip is to find a company offering a money-back guarantee. Find out how much bandwidth is required for a particular VOIP service. If you can’t find the required info anywhere on their webpage, send an e-mail to check that your broadband connection is enough for their VOIP service. Usually 128 kbps on the upload side is perfectly adequate.

Emergency calls are 1 of the technical drawbacks with VOIP, because it’s hard to work out your physical location on VOIP calls. 999 phone calls may not be directed to the correct call center, and if they’re not, operators are unable to determine your locale if you are unable to communicate.

Looking for a Job Using the Internet to Your Advantage

A modern job hunting campaign is by nature fairly complex. While the net has offered a variety of new channels, it also creates increased competition for choice jobs and potential challenges for job hunters.

Job hunting needs to be thought of as a personalized, highly targeted marketing operation where you are the product. Your resume is an ad. Your extended network is your inside source for information and job leads.

So where does the net fit in? At AA-Careers, we recently posted a job on Craigslist and got 600 plus responses in a calendar week. For a single opening. That’s increased competition for jobs.

Had the right person called us before we ran the ad, they could have secured the job before having all that competition. How? By knowing an employee at our office who became aware of the job prior to posting. Everyone was aware of the job for at least 14 days before it was posted. Who in your network might know of a job that’s coming available soon?

Be careful how you submit your application as well. When we did an analysis of the 650 resumes, we found a large number of errors. 63% of the applicants were easily removed with a fast triage process. How? The same way any HR professional would. By passing over resumes where the objective didn’t match our job description. By passing over candidates whose cover letters gave us causes not to hire them, like "I know I’m overqualified but I really need a job". By eliminating candidates whose documents that didn’t open properly. And by rejecting job hunters who didn’t bother to spell check their cover letter and/or resume.

So the great news is that job sites give you a feel of who is hiring, and for what kinds of jobs. But once those jobs are posted, the competition is intense. You can still try, if you have a well thought out resume, designed to appeal directly and clearly to the recruiter. And if you have practiced interviewing – so you don’t stumble at a critical point.

Another thing to be aware of is how quickly you can be checked out on the net. As we Googled several job hunters, we ran into some Facebook comments that were in questionable taste. Nothing larcenous, but enough to rock our thoughts about who to choose.

AA-Careers provides a broad set of services for Bay Area job seekers, providing our clients a personal career consultant, a managed job hunting campaign, modern tools like a personal website, video, highly targeted resume, and much more. Let us know if we can help you.

Be careful out there, and good hunting!

Canadian Emergency Mobile Phones

A recent poll in Canada has found that Canadians are relying more extensively on their mobile telephone in emergencies for safety and security. However most of them are unaware about the actual coverage that they would receive with their old Siemens mobile phones in an emergency. The size of the sample that the poll was conducted on was 1003 adult mobile phone users; the poll found that most of the respondents believed that the services which related to emergency coverage were imperative to their safety and security were in that they were.

The vice president of the company who undertook the poll commented that Canadian users will manage access to the emergency and 911 services via telephone house of the utmost importance, however he noted that he was not something they tended to spend a lot of time thinking about. He also mentioned that use of mobile phones assumed that they would have the same access to the same coverage and services that they can normally access through their land lines. The realisation that some of the services are not available tends to come as a surprise to most users.

The results of the poll were that 71% of Canadians cited safety and security as the main consideration of the decision to carry a mobile phone. 52% of the respondents were most interested in being able to always stay in touch with their friends and family; and 19% wanted you were to stay in touch with their workplace. Only 9% of people mentioned the cost effectiveness when compared to their current landline, was 7% cited their affinity for the latest gadgets as a reason for using a Mobile phone.

Sadly although safety and security were cited as reasons for respondents to carry their mobile phones 36% of them were unaware if the emergency 911 location services will cooperate with their devices.

Lord Mandelson Hints at Government Funding for Digital Britain

Prime Minister Gordon Brown speaking at the Digital Britain Summit in London has announced that the government is fully behind the initiative that aims to provide broadband access throughout the country by 2012.

The PM stressed that the country is relying on several areas to achieve growth and development in the near future and all of them were inextricably linked to Digital Britain. He said that connectivity to all households within the next few years would be a key factor in determining the success of the country’s economy in the near future.

Trade secretary Lord Mandelson explained to the attendees at the summit that such a gigantic effort would not be possible without some government investment. He hinted that financial support for building infrastructure is on the cards as the government had to live up to its responsibility of helping the industry achieve these goals.

It now seems almost certain that the broadband industry, particularly the mobile players, will receive some investment from the government in the near future. Most industry insiders however believe that government help would come at the condition that the service providers push broadband access to remote areas of the country (click for info on free laptops). Still, the providers are not likely to be coerced into anything that does not make economic sense to them as was seen by the reaction from some companies after the release of the Digital Britain report.

Is Your Business Looking to save Money?

If like the rest of us you’re looking how you can cut costs now the credit crunch is hitting our pockets, then a new mobile VoIP application from one of the mobile VoIP operators such as Truphone, JahJah or Fring could be just for you. Many offices around the country have already made the change over to VoIP to take advantage of a massively cheaper way to make phone calls. Now the technology has been developed so you can make use of VoIP through your mobile phone. Not only is this hugely convenient but it also has the potential to save your business a huge amount of money. Mobile phone bills represent a significant cost for most businesses especially when the nature of that business involves calling overseas.

One problem with mobile VoIP historically has been a lack of audio fidelity or problem with latency where a noticeable gap in the sound was audible when speaking to someone. However with the creation of better audio codec’s these issues seem no longer to be an issue. Then there was the problem with the mobile VoIP client being very complicated to operate with a certain degree of technical know how needed in order to be able to use it successfully. Finally there was also a problem with what mobile handsets worked with the mobile VoIP software. All these problems combined made mobile VoIP quite an unappealing option.

It certainly seems like those days are well and truly a thing of yesterday with mobile VoIP clients such as Fring and JahJah now working with a wide array of popular mobile phones, including the iPhone and the BlackBerry - the obligatory mobile device in business. As well as this they are easy to install, working seamlessly with your existing phone book. For these reasons there is little excuse not to have a mobile VoIP client installed on your mobile phone not least because they are free to download and install. I have certainly made huge savings on making international phone calls
